Why your iPhone battery might stop charging at 80%
Recently, several customers have asked us why their iPhone sometimes stops charging at 80% of battery capacity. If your iPhone has the latest operating system and stops charging at 80%, it is likely nothing to worry about. Following is what Apple says on their website in regards to the optimized charging software that is likely the reason your iPhone battery sometimes stops charging at 80%.
"To extend the lifespan of your battery, if the battery gets too warm, software might limit charging above 80 percent. Your iPhone will charge again when the temperature drops... iOS 13 uses Optimized Battery Charging to slow the rate of battery aging by reducing the time that your iPhone spends fully charged... Charging in this way reduces the wear on your battery and improves its lifespan."
If your iPhone does not have the current version of iOS and still stops charging around 80% and/or never fully charges, you may have a battery issue. If so, we are Bryan, College Station, and Huntsville's go-to team for iPhone battery diagnosis and replacement if necessary.
